Gone But Not Forgotten

Bro. Calvin Richard

September 1, 1931 - March 17, 2011

           Mr. Calvin Richard “OLD PRO” was born on September 1, 1931 to the late Charlie Richard and Lovicy Frank Richard in Ville Platte, LA.  Calvin was a resident of Port Arthur, TX for 67 years and was retired from Texaco after 44 years of service (and was never late).  Calvin departed this life on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Christus St. Mary’s Hospital.

            Calvin obeyed the gospel of Christ in 1960 under the preaching of Bro. Robert Williams Sr.  He was a faithful member of Lakeside Park Church of Christ.  He was a Sunday school Teacher, Church Treasurer, Songleader, carpenter and grounds keeper for the El Vista and Lakeside Park Church of Christ congregations for over 50 years where he remained faithful until his untimely death.

             Calvin is survived by his wife Dora Lie Guillory Richard of 10 years. He also leaves to mourn three sons, Robert Richard, James Richard (wife Sandra), and Kevin Richard all of  Port Arthur, TX.;  Two daughters, Gloria Richard of Port Arthur, TX and Joyce Richard White (husband Freddie Jr.) of Beaumont, TX.  One step-son Braxter Tezeno (wife Angela) of Houston, TX and two step-daughters Cathy Piper (husband Eric) also of Houston, TX and Alicia Tezeno of Port Arthur, TX.  Nineteen grandchildren, Tanya Richard, Felisha Marsh, Jamie Washington, James Richard II, Calvin Charles Richard, Adam Richard, Jordan Richard, Whitney White, J. Tyrese White, Jacquetta White, Courtney White, Kvonna Richard, Knarda Richard, Xavier Tezeno, Joshua Tezeno, Jonique Tezeno, Braden Tezeno, Christopher Piper and Donovan Piper and 25 great grandchildren. 

           He is also survived by three sisters, Rena Jones, Lou Hilda Richard and Gloria Dean Allen (husband Benjamin) all of Port Arthur, TX; three brothers, Ervin Richard and Kernis Richard of Port Arthur, TX, and Larry Richard (wife Cynthia) of Beaumont, TX. He will truly be missed by two of his devoted friends Michelle and Rochelle Lewis of Dallas, TX. He also leaves to mourn a host of family and friends that will dearly miss him. 

          Calvin was preceded in death by Julia January Richard (spouse of 43 years), sons Alvin Richard and Calvin Richard Jr. and two brothers Rogers Richard, Sr. and Allen Richard.
